Reflective Writing #3
Moral Relativism
To start with I personally have had issues accepting my dad’s culture and the choices and the decisions he makes based on his understanding of the culture. My mother is of a different background and it has been really difficult to cope with what we go through at home and what I go through with others. In my understanding what I try to do is take the best out of the two that are effective in a civilized society.moving on to my experience at ZHO, at ZHO we have people of all ages with different disabilities, it was very a very difficult process to try to make them understand what we wanted from them. They cant accept just anything you throw at them, some of them are mentally slow, so how we react has a great impact on them physically and mentally. Surely at ZHO they try to apply culture and way of life and understanding to themselves.  They have different and limited abilities which in turn make us differ from the culture in order to develop them mentally to accept later on. Some might not reach that level, and what I have seen at ZHO was a process of utilitarianism, they practice different ways to gain the happiness of the students they have there yet at the same time developing them physically and mentally.
There were some situations where deontological ethics took place, the instructors would enforce rules and regulations on the students whether they liked it or not, and were forced to do what the instructors had instructed them to do.
My reaction to the time spent there was kind of different every time we went there, there were some student who were just curious and they would just come up to us and talk to us like they have known us for a long time, yet I was uncomfortable in a way with some of them as I do not like to touched by others that often makes me feel weird there were situations where I had to actually yell at them and told them to stay away from me because they were bothering me a lot. I had practiced the rule of deontological ethics to let them know where I stand in front of them, and there were times where I practiced utilitarianism just to get them to be at a distance from me.
To conclude I have learned so much at ZHO, it’s not easy to school people who are impaired and have mental and physical disabilities , yet I tried my best to make myself happy and the students there happy as well, I learned how to cope with certain types of disabilities with some people , so now in the future id know how to react in situations when the time calls for it, ‘ been a weird yet good experience and hope for many more things to come for the coming students who will partake the same course.

ZHO” Zayed higher organization” is a center for the rehabilitation for those ranging from children to adults. At the beginning it felt weird for me knowing that i and my classmates were obligated to visit the ZHO and it felt like I just had to go by the instructions given by the course to achieve good grades (act of Contractarianism).

First we had to go to a special section where they bring a bunch of kids and adults to evaluate them, this room is special for evaluation of their different abilities and skills, to later on separate them into different groups to be is one class,  they can’t make decisions on their own. It’s like an IQ test that tests these children on how they interact with each other and see what their interested in.

At that time I had to get to know them and try to interact with them on their level of understanding, it was a bit tough as to they did not know who I was and neither did I know them, they started taking advantage of me as I was told to them I was a teacher, and they had to do what I said since I was a new guy they though id fall for their tricks it was amazing to see such things happen on the first day.

I felt like I could get along with them on a local level, even though it was hard to talk to them and get things through to them, and they always changed their minds they always wanted something then no they didn’t it was a bit frustrating, so I acted like I understood them. I realized that their some children and teenagers that were in a very introverted state and I had to and talk to them or they wouldn’t have come to me at all, this is what you can say utilitarianism, I know it was wrong of me to pretend I knew what they were saying, but at then we carried out conversations and they were happy.

Now in a place like this there were things I did not expect ZHO is a rehabilitations center, and for some of the instructors had to use aggression in the tone of their voice to let the students know who’s boss and they had to obey direct orders., I never thought that this would be applicable to those with disabilities such as the students had over there, it didn’t feel right to me at all, violence breeds violence so I thought it was wrong, and I felt it was just wasting their time. This act of Egoism from the instructors I feel that the reaction of some of the instructors is just to earn thing living, I think I these instructors should be replaced with egoistic instructors should be a person who is a utilitarian. Someone who could cope and so much patience.

RW#1 : My Personal Experience

My Personal Experience

I’m going to tell you about my personal experience in a situation that happened to me last year. I had gone to my company main office (GASCO) to ask for a salary advance, it was a rough time in my life where I had spent all my money for the month. So I asked for a check of 5000 dirhams, and I was granted the check. Later on that day I went to the bank to cash the check, I told the teller to give it all in 500’s and the last 500 in 100’s, instead of giving me 5000 dirhams he gave me 50,000 dirhams in an envelope. I took the envelope and left the bank in tears and asked myself what I did to deserve this large amount of money. So I called a couple of my friends and told them about what happened and asked them what should I do? Keep the money or stay quiet, some said keep it spend it and be happy, and some told me to take it back. This all happened on a Thursday right before the weekend. I thought to myself if I kept the money I’d be happy for a short time at what cost? The teller would lose his job and be sent to jail, so I took sometime time to think about it. I took a very hard decision and told myself I will take the money back, it didn't feel right to keep the money so I went back to the bank and gave the money back, inside of me felt happy and relieved. If I hadn't done that I would have gotten in trouble with my company first and second the authorities and I didn't want that to happen, so I did what I judged to be right. After analyzing what I have written here I’d say it mostly would compare with Kohlberg’s level 3 (post-conventional) of moral reasoning. Looking back on the situation that I was in last year if it were to happen to me again I would return the money without hesitation it’s the right thing to do.
